I recently took myself down to Oakland to visit my new nephew, Rex. He's the little brother to the kick ass kid named, Stone Blue. The first thing Stone told me on this trip was, he's not a biter, "I'm not that kind of kid". He's 4 and he is hilarious and clever and sweet and lovely. His tiny brother is the coolest cucumber on the block. He never cries. I'm exaggerating, but only a tiny amount. He kvetches a little, then smiles. Once I heard him cry but it lasted for 3 seconds.
I also visited one of my oldest friends on this planet, Ilyse. We met when we were 11 years old. That's thirty years of friendship, people. Thirty years of love and support and tears and hugs and drugs and cigarettes and random toothbrushes and giggling until the Principal wanted to expel us and boys and kissing and first times of so so many things and fights and make-ups and sharing everything. Everything. Ilyse is a blessing to me. And I love her very much. She is the most amazing hostess. She is the kind of friend I wish for everyone.
