Chaneka (Sha_knee_kah) is a force of fabulousness. I love her because she is fierce and direct. I also love her because Kayden is the sweetest boy, you can just tell. He's so sweet with his mama, and they get really silly together. If you know me, as many of you do, you know how I am with my kids - fierce, direct and silly. Chaneka and I have an easiness about us, she's so familiar to me, even though I just met her. I love when that instant, love connection with a new friend happens.

Chaneka wanted to do her photo shoot at the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, which is a gorgeous setting. I brought the special duck and goose food that you buy at the farm stand next door, so Chaneka and Kayden got to feed all of the ducks and geese, which is always hilarious. It turns into a duck and goose mob. There were no ducklings or goslings yet, I was hoping to see those fuzzy babies.

I hope to keep Chaneka and Kayden as my friends, as I hope for with all of my families. Now we can be one, big, happy family. It would be amazing to have reunions, see how everyone is doing year after year. This May 17th, the opening reception for Illuminating Family will be our first annual family gathering. Who wants to be in on this? Let's do it!

I got my first, final print today from the printer. It's breathtaking. I am so excited to share all of these photos with you!
