From the Lenox Hotel to the Boston Public Market. Boston Walking Tour. Wicked Awesome. November 4, 2019
I’m in chillin in Boston, friends. Aaron is here for work, I tagged along. I love tagging along! We flew in yesterday, got here in the evening, checked into our hotel, and ate dinner at Miller’s Ale House. Good. Not great. Then we walked to Target, always great. I bought some tea and almonds, Aaron bought face soap. I bought a mustard yellow corduroy jean jacket. Should I keep it? It’s my favorite color.
Today I woke up with Aaron and went downstairs to the continental breakfast. Is there anything worse than a continental breakfast? Runny, gooey, scrambled eggs that I could not eat (contained butter). So I made myself some instant oatmeal that I got at Target (which is right next door, nailing it). I worked out (Fight Club), took a shower, grabbed a Lyft and went into the city. My driver was from Tanzania. He’s a biochemist taking a break to figure out what he really wants to do with his life. Rashid. We almost went to Tanzania, back when Lavi wanted to go to Africa for his Bar Mitzvah, but he changed his mind. It’s still on the list - safari - yes!
I got dropped off at The Lenox Hotel, where the lobby is lovely and swanky. I love fancy hotel lobbies, they have the best bathrooms, (hot traveler’s tip!). I found a breakfast spot, an adequate place called The Friendly Toast. Then to Eataly, (dreadful coffee). Then I met my tour group.
Ira was the tour guide. He talked very fast and facts flew out of his mouth at a tremendous rate. We walked all over the city, saw many old churches, the finish line of the Boston Marathon, the monument commemorating those that were killed at the Boston Marathon bombing, old buildings, cemeteries, and many more monuments honoring the many people who are important to Boston, or who were killed fighting for our country. It was so much information that most of it has already fallen out of my head. But it was interesting and fascinating. He showed us many sites in the city, then he showed us photographs of what that exact site looked like 100 years ago. We all ooooohed and aaaaaahed. That was wonderful! I love learning that way.
Ira fed the squirrels walnuts in the Boston Public Garden - super chubby, giant, friendly squirrels that climbed up his pant leg. They came up to me, too, but I ran away. Their tiny, little hands freak me out. But they were insanely cute!
We went to the old cemetery where Samuel Adams and John Hancock are buried, along with many others, 8 people deep under each gravestone. It was perfectly creepy.
Please enjoy all of the photographs of our tour.
Love you and miss you. Love, Eden
