Scenes From a Roman Holiday. July 28, 2019
Today was our day off from our vacation. We slept in. We had coffee and snacks at a cafe. Our goals were to go to the Jewish Ghetto neighborhood and to visit the Pantheon. We did it all.
We visited the Great Synagogue of Rome, we even took the tour. The synagogue was built in the early 1900’s. It’s very pretty. Very big. The tour was quick and the museum was terrible. Very disappointing. We ate at a restaurant in the neighborhood, also meh. Oh well. We were Jews in Rome and that is alright.
Today was a rainy day, we used umbrellas. We walked around and made it to the Pantheon. The Pantheon is an amazing sight.
All in all, it was just a day in Rome. A day in Rome is a great day. Just being and not going at a fast pace to see it all is a good feeling. Just soaking it up, soaking it in, wandering and looking around.
I would like to see the Trevi Fountain without the crowd. Maybe Tuesday morning.
Tomorrow is The Vatican day.
Things I notice in Rome:
The women/girls dress fancy. All wear dresses.
Many women wear ridiculous shoes. High heels. Platforms. All of the streets are cobble stones. They are literally hobbling themselves.
Many toilets have no toilet seats. Many have no toilet paper.
The nights are for socializing and/or meat markets. We get to see many people making out. Some are very drunk.
Families with small children are part of the late-night scene.
love you. miss you.
Love, Eden
P.S. These photos were taken with my iPhone. My apologies. SWAK.
