Buonasera! Today was a travel day. We left our beloved neighborhood in Rome, Trastevere. We had the most wonderful time in Rome! Such a great do-over, Aaron and I both didn’t connect with Rome the first time, so I am happy that we loved it this time. We took a taxi to Termini train station in Rome, our train left at 13:00 (they use the 24-hour way of telling time here. It is hard for me). We waited for our train on Platform 2 for quite a while. We asked 4 different train station employees if we were at the right spot. 10 minutes before our train was meant to leave, finally someone told us that our platform was 2 EST, which was way the fuck down there, far, far, far away from where we waiting. We had to run! Marisa - I ran for so long and so far with my big heavy pack on! My shins were burning! Thanks coach, couldn’t have done it without you!
We made our train! With moments to spare.
We made some friend on the train. Two brothers, originally from India. One lives in Amsterdam, one lives in California. They are both in IT, like Aaron. So nice to chat and make new friends, if only for a train ride.
We made it to Orvieto. We took the funicolare up to the top of the hill town. Our apartment is amazing. It was built in 1200. Are you kidding me? I can’t wrap my mind around this. 1200! It’s a lovely apartment at the top of the building. I will make sure to take photos from our balcony.
We walked around a little bit today. We didn’t get here until 15:00, so we were all in need of some torpor time. But we did get to walk around a little and so far I don’t recognize anything. Aaron and I were here in 2003. I want to figure out where we were in 2003, to see if I remember. I know I’ll remember the Duomo. I will let you know.
Dinner was good. Not amazing, but it was very nice. We talked with a couple with a 7 month old baby. It was so nice to talk to other people!
Now it is 23:51. Mayim passed out before brushing his teeth. Lavi is tucked in. Aaron is working (boo). I am blogging. Really looking forward to getting in bed and reading my trashy novel.
Tomorrow we will relax. Have coffee. Stroll around. Shop. Down time in Orvieto.
I miss you! I love you!
Love, Eden
