Connecting.  October 7, 2015

I got to be in this moment.  I had a photoshoot at a retirement community, where 7th graders and Seniors got together to talk, visit, make connections, sing, study.  I was nervous, I had experiences going to nursing homes with my elementary school.  We went to entertain the residents, but these visits left me feeling sad and scared.  There were unpleasant smells, ugly living quarters.  My visit to this home yesterday was not scary.  I think it helped heal old sad and bad memories.

These two women had never met each other before, but there was an instant connection and I love that I got to be there.  And I feel privileged that I got to photograph it.  Also, this elder woman reminds me of my Grandma Libby.  I miss her.
